The Greek philosopher, Plato, once said, "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, height to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and lends that is good, just, and beautiful." Plato's statement reminds all of us that music is not just merely an art or a career, it is not a product nor a service, but it is the food of the soul and perhaps once of the most widely used international language in the course of human history.
At S.I.M, we promote wholesome music education for everyone, from newborns to adults. We have developed a broad spectrum of musical courses and programmes, ranging from our popular "Kindermusik" curriculum & adult piano courses, the well-known Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) & the Trinity College of London examinations, and right up to professional degree programmes with Akademi Muzik S.I.M.
At the Akademi Muzik S.I.M., we want our students to know that the principal motivation for a career as a professional musician must stern from a dedication to music rather than from an ambition for personal glory. While their training and education with us at the Akademi will provide them with the abilities necessary to compete in the professional world, it is also part of the duty as musicians to expand the impact of music development and growth on Malaysia in the century ahead.
The Administration and Faculty of the Akademi Muzik S.I.M. are committed to the belief that a full education is much more than the acquisition of technical skills. Our program is designed to assure that every student be given the technical instruction of high caliber and broad scope, but at the same time, it directs students to a consideration of the entire art beyond their immediate technical interest in it. The curriculum at our Akademi is structured to open the door to a successful career and at the same time, develop their art and also an in-dept understanding of the relationship of their art to the social and cultural environment of this region.
As we stand on the brink of the 21st century, a period of vast changes, with our well structured programs, modest facilities, and unique view of education, our students will be fully equipped with knowledge and experience necessary for them to oversee changes, and thus securing a prominent place for music in the next century.
